Poster Draft - Sam

I haven't used photoshop before so this was all new to me;
  • I have chosen to stick to a black and white colour scheme as it tends to give off a mysteriou atmosphere, this sets the mood for the film well. I feel the choice to use the dark colours as oppose to using bright colors also indicates that the film is going to be a romantic/comedy, it's going to a thriller.
  • The picture I have chosen to use I feel doesn't give much away but immediately suggests to the audience that their is something mysterious about the character, this leaves the audience asking questions and being intrigued and wanting to know what the character is about thus meaning they'll watch the film.
  • The choice to include BBC FILMS on the poster allows it to cement it's roots of being a British independent film.
  • Presenting the release date of the film was key to let the audience know when it would be available to watch
  • I have chosen to let the title of 'HOME' in broad captials to stand out so that the audience can catch the name of the film if interested by the poster.
  • The choice to present the name of the two characters on the poster is to show the audience who is starring in the film, and if they like the particular actor/actress then they may be more inclined to watch it.
  • Having the '5 star' rating of the film in the middle and being one of the most eye catching features makes the audience want to see it. Such a great review means it must be a good film, resulting in the audience being intrigued/curious as to why it is so good!
  • The character in the frame is dressed with a hood up in this shot. This could suggest that he is up to no good by stereotypical judgement, not to mention he is peering into a house; why is he looking inside... is he a criminal? It leaves the audience interested as to what the film is about.

  1. Rather basic Sam but never the less well done for having a go. I would like to see some discussion of whos poster you will take forward and develop into the final one for the portfolio. Can you also post about the extra scenes you are shooting to finish the film
